Notes from the President of GSMC

MAY, 2003:

Thanks to everyone who participated in the spring clubhouse work days. A lot was accomplished.....Most of the gaps in the logs have been sealed and those that remain will be done soon. This will not only help keep the bugs out but will make it easier to heat the clubhouse.....Get well wishes to Lois Arant.....Beautiful April scenery at Granny Squirrel with the Dogwoods in full bloom.....The cardroom at the clubhouse now has heat.....A number of businesses have recently closed in Andrews including two gas stations, the Ford dealership and District Memorial Hospital. There is talk of converting the hospital building into the county jail.....Preliminary plans for the water system improvements are being reviewed while additional data is being gathered to submit with the plans.....The new 20,000 gallon storage tank will be located about 85 feet higher than well 3 and, like the existing tanks, will gravity feed all present and future houses.....The Hillbilly Mall and Cherokee Jamboree has opened a new entrance road just off the four-lane which substantially shortens the drive into the parking lot.....The monthly ladies luncheons continue to be very popular and well attended.....An early morning earthquake shook the mountains on April 29th, no serious damage was reported in the Granny Squirrel area.....Check the calendar at GrannySquirrel.com for May social events.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE:

Thanks to Kay Eshbaugh for agreeing to chair the Granny Squirrel social committee which will plan various events at the clubhouse and otherwise throughout the year.  Linda Griffiths and Jean Parks have agreed to assist Kay.  Plans are to hold a Dinner night, either covered dish dinner or cookout, on the second Saturday of the month and a movie night on the fourth Thursday.  Check the calendar regularly for upcoming events.  Suggestions are encouraged.
